Darul huda masjid is running a madrasa(a place to teach young kids about Islam and human values)called "Darul Huda Madrasa".Around 30 kids are studying in madrasa.Darul huda masjid is the centre of the village its run darul huda trust.Its under a trust called darul huda trust.
Ideal higher secondary school is a sister concern of Ideal higher secondary school of vengara.Its having classes from Montessori level to Plus two level.Its very famous for its high quality education standards.The school concentrate not only in academic level of students but nurturing different skill of students in arts and sports.The school conducts arts and sports festivals every year.Many students from this school are competing in district and state level programmes.Around 500 students from neighbouring places are studying in Ideal Secondary School.

Like the other village of malappuram district of kerala,people in cherekkad also football maniac.Cherekkad is having a football Club called Navadarshana Football Club under Nehru Yuva Kendra.The Navadarshana Football Club is having many good players,and many budding players.Navadarshana Football Club participates in all most all football tournaments happening in neighbour places and conducting football tournament Evey year.
At the time of events like fifa world cup and Euro cup,People will be decorating the streets with flags of different countries and big posters of football players.People will be setting up big tents and watching football together using Projectors.
